Since 1985 Yalumba has been under the leadership of fifth generation circle of relatives member Robert Hill- Smith who has taken Yalumba from a well-regarded fortified winemaker with a big, cumbersome wine portfolio, to some of the respected fine wine producers in Australia
The coopering of oak barrels is a proud tradition at Yalumba, with a coopering history dating back to the turn of the century. With oak playing such a very powerful part in the winemaking process, Yalumba is one of a small group of winemakers world wide to exercise full keep watch over over the quality of oak used to age their wines
The Yalumba Nursery started in 1975as a vision of the then Managing Director, Wyndham Hill-Smith and Chief Winemaker Peter Wall, in order that they could a have greater keep watch over over grafted vine selection
In the vineyard, Yalumba have a holistic approach to growing grapes. This is embodied in their ‘Vitis Programme’, which states a commitment to having minimal reliance on pesticides and maximum attention to environmental improvement
Notes: Pale straw in colour with green hues, this wine has aromas of lemon myrtle and pineapple with hints of stone fruit, peach and melon. Peach and melon first of all on the palate leads into a wealthy orange pannacotta mid palate with a long length of flavour. The palate finishes with the lingering flavours of curry leaf and pesto
