Description
Roroa is textbook Sauvigon Blanc from New Zealand from a vintage that saw yields and quality bang on the nail. That was despite the country still being closed due to Covid, so wineries had to do without the usual influx of international winemakers lending a hand. An unusually cold and damp early February had growers worried too, but late February and early March saved the day, so quality is terrific. Roroa is made by Drew Ellis at Marlborough’s only co-operative, owned and run by its growers, who really care about quality. Swirled in your glass, the wine exudes abundant guava, passion fruit and lime aromas. It’s ripely fruity, yet super citrusy and crisp too. Totally delicious – on its own or with spicy Thai, seafood or exotic salads.
