Description
Glenmorangie’s Dr Bill Lumsden has spent the best part of three decades studying how different barrels affect the finish of his distillery’s world-renowned malt whisky. His pioneering work has created an award winning range of malts, of which The Lasanta – Gaelic for warmth and passion – is certainly one of the boldest. It spends the first decade of its life ageing patiently in American bourbon casks that impart a smooth character to the whisky. It’s then transferred to Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks for two years’ finishing. If you’re not familiar with sherry, Oloroso and PX are richly flavoured styles, giving The Lasanta a complex flavour structure and beautiful copper colour. Expect raisins, butterscotch and a long spicy finish.
