Move beyond some of the big supermarket brands and you will discover some wonderful wines made by passionate artisan producers. Verduzzo Pizzini 2022 1x 75cl 13.5% “The nose displays complex aromas of cinnamon spiced apple and soft herbal notes, complemented by ripe tropical fruits, pear, white peach and toasty nutty characters. The palate is soft and round. The wine has mouth filling texture and nicely balanced acidity with flavours of ripe pear, toasted almonds, spices and fleshy ripe peach. The length on this Northern Italian variety lingers with soft vanilla notes from the oak.” Hills and Valleys Riesling Pikes 2022 1x 75cl 11% “Attractive and inviting aromas of stone fruit and sweet limes are dominant, with floral notes of honeysuckle and lavender adding layers of complexity. Lifted aromatics of rose petals, red berries, cola and a subtle fresh earthy note. Palate sits somewhere betweena rosè and red, it’s medium bodied, soft and smashable, with refreshing acidity leaving you wanting more. Upfront red fruits, continuing with earthy, cola/anise characters and finishing with a peppery stalky spice. Hints of blackberry and Kalamata olive come through over time, erupting in a long and lingering palate. A fine line of acid, reminiscent of tangy rhubarb, is supported by lively tannins. ” Shiraz Silver Lining 2020 1x 75cl 14% “Bursting with punchy aromas of boysenberry, raspberry and cherry, with violet, candied flowers and all spice adding to the mix. This Shiraz is powerful but lithe and precise. Finishes with outstanding clarity thanks to a sexy floral note and silky tannins. Finely integrated new and seasoned French oak.”
