Cabernet Sauvignon

About Cabernet Sauvignon

Grape varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon are grown all around the world and are most closely linked to the Bordeaux wine region. However, there are varieties grown in many other regions of Australia, California, Chile, China, and South Africa in fact in nearly every major wine-producing country across the globe. One the most widely recognised wines in the world and probably only rivaled by Merlot in terms of popularity.

Cabernet Sauvignon is usually a full-bodied wine with high tannins and a noticeable acidity that helps this wine’s aging potential, but can still be enjoyed even when young. Although it is considered a classic varietal, it is quite often blended with Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

Pairing with Cabernet Sauvignon with Food

Cabernet Sauvignon can sometimes overwhelm light or delicate foods so it is recommended to drink Cabernet Sauvignon with fatty red meats such as lamb or steak. This red wine is noted for its oak influences and so works well with grilled foods or cooking methods that involve charring.
