There are many varieties of grapes used in wine production. Wines that are primarily made using mostly one grape variety are called varietal wines. A varietal wine should be made from at least 85% of a single grape variety (this percentage is 75% in the USA). If multiple grape varieties are used to produce the wine it is called a blended wine.
