This 12 year old single malt was released as part of Balvenie’s 2019 ‘Stories’ collection. This bottle was titled ‘The Sweet Toast of American Oak,’ and with good reason! The first (but by no means last!) offering from Apprentice Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie, we wish our first-attempts were this astounding! The sweet whisky is the product of spirit aged primarily in ex-bourbon casks, followed by ‘cask finishing’ in toasted Kentucky Virgin Oak Barrels, the whisky is then set aside to mature for a few more months. Each bottle featured in ‘The Balvenie Stories’ is equipped with an NFC-enabled neck tag, when scanned a podcast is revealed reciting the narrative that inspired that particular bottle, an innovative addition from Balvenie, we feel it completes the multi-sensory experience!
