Description
Kings County Distillery is New York City’s oldest operating whiskey distillery, the first since prohibition. Founded in 2010 by Colin Spoelman and David Haskell, they make handmade moonshine and bourbon out of the 115-year-old Paymaster Building in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
Tasting Notes: A very scotch-like bourbon, flavourful and robust from having aged in a new barrel, but not as sweet as a traditional bourbon. Aged about 18 months, this bourbon was the brainchild of Rob Easter from Workhorse Rye, who first put the recipe into barrels.
Hot rubber, pretzels, slightly bitter baker’s chocolate, warm leather and hard candies define the palate. A delightful toasty nose that leads not with peat but with warmth and sophistication, unbelievable depth and maturity for its age.
Awards: San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2016 – Double Gold American Distilling Institute (ADI) Craft Spirit Awards 2016 – Silver.
