A product of curiosity and collaboration, Jameson Caskmates is a new whiskey from Jameson that has been finished in stout-seasoned barrels.
The story of Jameson Caskmates began when local micro-brewery Franciscan Well borrowed our oak whiskey barrels to age their fine Irish stout. Once their beer had been bottled, the stout-seasoned barrels were returned to the Midleton Distillery and re-filled with Jameson Whiskey.
The master distiller was more than pleased with what emerged; a whiskey that retains all the triple-distilled smoothness of Jameson Original with additional notes of coffee, cocoa and a gentle hint of hops.
The Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition is a triple-distilled Irish Whiskey that has been painstakingly aged in Irish craft beer barrels. A crisp orchard fruit character, green apples and pears with a hint of lime zest is balanced by an initial whiff of freshly cut hay. Mild pot still spices emerge, ranging from green tea to hazelnut and milk chocolate in intensity. The gentle touch of hops and cocoa beans from the beer cask finish immediately complements the first sweet tongue coating typical of the Irish pot still inclusion. A sweet and lengthy finish with milk chocolate and butterscotch.
